Location: Bishop Arts District, Dallas Texas
Just a quick hello everyone, and yay, it's almost Friday! O.k., before you answer that, are you the type of person who gets so comfortable with where you live that you rarely venture out to neighboring areas of your city? Well, that is me. I am very adventurous and always exploring when I am traveling but I rarely do so in my own neck of the woods. So one afternoon, after attending a fashion show, I asked my husband to drive to nearby Bishop Arts District to walk around. I really like this area of Dallas because it's unique and is full of character. For the longest time, this side of town has been ignored by the suburban and uptown crowd, so it's edgy yet also feels like a small town at the same time. It has a myriad of unique shops, excellent locally sourced and owned restaurants (my favorites are Hattie's for brunch, Boulevardier for some French fare, Emporium pies for the sweet tooth and I hear Lucia is excellent, except that they will ask for your kidney if you want a reservation, that is how hard it is to book a table!) and a few, small art galleries. Honestly, calling this as the "arts district" is a bit of a stretch, but still it's fun to walk around there.
If there is one thing I love more than travel and fashion, that would be home decor and design. I stumbled upon Dirt, a charming floral shop that carried an assortment of succulents. Aww, I was so happy to have found this shop. They had a huge selection of succulents which is quite difficult to find this time of the year. So, I picked up a couple for the home.
The district is quite small, probably only taking a few blocks. And if you just keep walking you will stumble upon the sweetest-smelling block and find Society. I absolutely love this vintage, Parisienne inspired candle shop. I picked up a couple for presents and will sure come back for more now that the holidays are coming up.
Back to my original question, over the knee boots YAY or NAY? I must say, these boots are having a moment! I personally have been wearing them for a few years now and just couldn't get enough of them. I've had a reader comment from a previous post that she was unsure about them because she is short and worries it will make her appear shorter. Well, I am 5'3 and 3/4 (but I am gonna round that up to 5'4, wink..) and I find them to be lengthening and slimming to the legs. I've also heard some worry about looking like Julia Roberts' character in Pretty Woman! I think if it's paired with a body conscious dress you may and for that reason I like to pair mine with flowy dresses, long or short as shown (here) and with skinny jeans like (here).
So, YAY or NAY? I would love to hear from you.
Again, thanks for reading and have a wonderful weekend!
