SOUTHERN GREENS: An American Horror Story

Location:Magazine Street & The Garden District, New Orleans

Happy Monday!

I hope everybody is staying  warm and safe! Speaking of warm, today I will be sharing more of New Orleans from a recent girls trip. In the past, I have always visited the city in the summer when the south's heat and humidity is really unbearable. Being able to visit in January is such a relief.  With the temperature being in the 60's I couldn't have asked for better weather. This morning,  the sun was out  and the air crisped making it a perfect day to take a stroll and check out the unique shops in Magazine Street. And unlike downtown, the street itself is quieter and seemed to have been occupied and visited more by the locals rather than tourists.  And just like no other, we started our morning with brunch at Peche. After all NOLA has been known to be  a culinary experience and not being able to sample their cuisine is almost like missing out on the whole experience, at least that's what I told myself as I devoured all that goodness.  And unlike tourist traps, this place is solid and I highly recommend it.

After we took a short walk to the Garden District.  Although,  it's really best to see these homes by taking the trolley, we opted to go on foot because we were pretty close in vicinity. Tradition, beauty, opulence are words that can be used to describe New Orleans' Garden District.  As we've asked around for directions, we were directed to this home. Do you recognize it? Apparently this was the home featured in The American Horror Story's Coven series. I'm usually really behind with TV shows and so I had no clue about this house but since then binged on it or at least the ones I can stomach to watch. I have always wanted to be an actor for as long as I can remember, so I got the kicks seeing this home and city where the whole series was shot.

After our stroll in the Garden District, we headed back to Royal Street and walked around looking for some daiquiris or a coffee shop. That's the thing with the city, it's small and big at the same time. There seem to be a new street I've not seen before and just waiting to be explored giving me another excuse for a return.

So until then...

Thanks for reading!

P.S. Thank you to my sister and bestie who took my photos!
